About Cherie

I paint full-time in my Methven studio and have works held in private collections here and throughout the world. My abstracts push the boundaries of traditional painting practice and technique by combining colours like letters-in-words to create an energetic language. They are intended to raise the vibrational frequencies of the room they are in. They evoke feelings and emotions that are not easily articulated otherwise. To me it is a sacred and magical process.

My artworks are my observations. I gather information and knowledge and catalogue it in colour codes and maps, otherwise known as abstract art. As I follow my joy, the process feels as if I am doing some important record keeping and it is my mission to state the facts and let others interpret them. I know that my art is important for many reasons, one being that it changes the energetic frequency of the space it is in.

In my art I am:

-Free to seek intimacy with myself through the growing use of my intuition.

-Free to seek and explore the constantly moving edge of human consciousness.

-Free to use my fluency in the sacred language of colour and know that it is enough.

I have studied formally but feel I am mostly self taught and hugely influenced by Klimt, Kandinsky, Modigliani, Degas, Schiele and Chagall.

I live in Methven, New Zealand with my photographer husband Bill. We enjoy travelling and spending time with our three grown sons and their families.

I welcome feedback, and would love to hear from you. If you are ever in Methven, we have lovely accommodation, have a look at the Arthouse Apartment, attached to our home. It's a beautifully quiet place to relax.
